Ashton's first performance!

Here are some pictures of Ash's first dance performance. There wasn't much dancing to be had, but lots of good laughs. I videoed him doing it in class today and was amazed at how he could do the whole thing! His next performance is on Wednesday at a care center, so we will see if he has figured out to watch his teacher instead of wander around and look off the edge of the stage! :) At least he stayed out there and didn't cry, right? It could have been worse I guess!

Announcing....

Yay! We are so excited to be having a girl! I am due March 26th. Ashton is excited to have a baby sister. Last night he wanted to get something behind the couch I was laying on so he said, "Mom can you move so I can get a blanket and not smash your baby." It was about the funniest thing I have ever heard him say so matter-of-factly. He continues to crack us up every day.
Since I am going on about Ashton, I might as well write a few more things Ashton has been up to for our own memories...
-His favorite movie right now is Toy Story. He watches it at least once a day. Lately he has been playing with his own Buzz Light Year and re-enacting parts from the movie. Some of the funniest phrases he says are, "I'm not flying, I'm falling with style." And the best one was on Sunday when he decided to tell his cousin Canyon he wasn't going down the stairs "because they'll be expecting that!" So he tried to climb down the rock wall and got stuck! We had a good laugh over that one. We got him some Buzz Light Year PJ's for him and when he has them on he can fly. He pushes a button on his chest and his wings pop out! We saw him doing that in his room standing on his bed and had to get out the video camera for it. It's even funnier when he pushes his button again to put them away. Then when we tried to get him to show someone the next day he couldn't do it because, "I don't have my Buzz Light Year jammies on!"
-He will pick up on big words and incorporate them into his play. The latest word is "punish." He will play with his super heroes and just use the word over and over in the wrong context. It doesn't make any sense to us at all but it is pretty funny to listen to him.
-He still rubs our faces to fall asleep at night, in the night, in the morning, and whenever he is drinking out of a sippy cup.

Ashton's First Day of School!

Here is a picture of Ashton's first day of school! He was pretty excited, and I can't believe that he is really going to school. We are 2 months in now, and I finally feel like he has figured out how to listen and contribute to his class. It is kind of hard to be the one in charge and have to worry about all the other parents compain about my kid being the distracting one! I almost pulled out the first month, but I am glad I took a deep breath and stuck with it. It is good for him to have something that's a big deal.

LABOR DAY AT THE CABIN

We went down to St. George for Labor Day weekend and then stayed at the cabin in Parowan on Sunday night. Ashton loved it! Attempt at a good senior pic of my brother Dan...
I am in love with this pic! His face, his Daddy behind him.. perfect!

Three year old portrait...

Happy Daddy's Day!

I know I am a little late, but I wanted to post this cute design that Ashton gave Aron for Father's Day. On Tuesday Aron and Ash were jumping on the tramp and Ash jumped onto Aron and got nose to nose with him and said, "Daddy, you're my best friend." Aron has talked about it for 2 days now how cute it was. We are so lucky to have such a great kid and love every minute we get to spend with him. We started the official potty training job today now that my dance concert is over! I am determined to be a mom 24/7 so I can really help my little guy get out of diapers! Wish us luck!

SUMMER FUN!

Ashton and Malakai are best buddies! They live 3 houses apart and love to spend entire days together. They are such cute friends!

Ashton likes to pretend his big boy underwear are "luchador" masks. Funny kid.
Sunny got an underwater digital camera right before our family Park City trip and we had fun in the hot tub. Check out Ashton's open eyes underwater.. that is a Swimming Level One requirement! :)

He doesn't like Aunt Laurie right now because she dunked him... He'll get over it soon.

BOWLING

Ashy got to go bowling tonight with Aunt Sunny and Uncle Mick. He killed them both: Ash 113, Sunny 91, Mick 82. How cute are the tiny bowling shoes?!

HOGLE ZOO!

Taking a nap in his favorite spot: cuddled up next to mommy. Cute guy! Bama was up for State Golf with Papa. Ash did some smooth talking and convinced his Papa that Bama would have more fun with him on the Academic Preschool fieldtrip to the Zoo than sitting in a golf cart all day. He was right!

CHALK ART ON MAIN STREET

One of our favorite parts about where we live, is the annual sidewalk chalk week on Main Street. We love going on walks together to look at the drawings. This year we went with the Tadje's and had some fun with chalk ourselves. We love living so close to great friends!

THE HELMET

Ashton is BEYOND OBSESSED with catch helmets right now. All kinds. He got to go to St. George for the weekend all by himself to play with his Papa and Bama Higgins. He came home with an old red baseball helmet and wouldn't take it off. We ended up losing it somewhere and couldn't find it for a week. He would wake up in the middle of the night crying for his helmet and start searching for it. It was so sad. When he called Bama in tears she immediately found him another one, had the art teacher paint his name on it, and expressed it up to him from St. George. He would wait at the door for the mailman every day. The day it came he was out in the driveway yelling across the street to the mailman, "Did you bring me a catch helmet?" Over and over again. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen! He was so excited and wouldn't take it off for days. He even had to have it with him when he slept!

He really really wants a "catch helmet" and asks Aron to draw them all the time for him. This drawing is one they drew at church and he carried it around for a few days showing everyone his catch helmet. It's pretty funny to see the phases he goes through.
The other day Ash went outside all by himself without us knowing. We were calling out on our back deck for him. I spotted him inside Papa Roy's car that has been parked in our backyard all winter. He thought he was pretty funny looking at us out the back window. I wish I would have caught him laughing like that on my camera! It was so cute!

Here is our new retaining wall for our garden! We are so excited to have fresh homegrown goods this year! We planted tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, 3 kinds of squash, pumpkins, beans, jalepenos, and PEPPERS: green, cayene, hungarian hot wax, and macaroni rosso. I am excited to make my own salsa this year! Aron can't wait to make his own jamaican jerk rubs for some steak! We will see if anything survives the deer!
