Family Christmas Card 2009

2009 Greetings from the Simkins Family!

Family Pictures and more...

I really wanted to get good family pictures this year while we were still just the 3 Crazy A's and before I got hugely pregnant. I am so glad we did! These pictures were done by Jess Bishop Photography and I think she did an amazing job. I will treasure these pictures forever!

Halloween pumpkins! Here is Ash trying to make the same face as his pumpkin. The last pumpkin is Aron's that he carved of his boss for a contest at work. He is quite an artist!

First snow of the year... Ashton wanted his snow boots and gear. He headed straight outside and started throwing snow balls into the street! Funny that he even remembered what to do in the snow since it had been months since he had last seen snow.

Check out the 30 point bucks in our backyard!

Catching up again...

Ashton really likes to get into his character. This face started out as his "bad eyes" face and soon turned into his "crazy eyes" face because Aron and I would almost pee our pants when he would do it. I can tell when he is starting to pretend he is a bad guy because he starts to get that look in his eyes, so I will always say, "Ashton, get those bad eyes off! You better not have bad eyes on in my house!" (Because we don't have bad guys at our house.) So then he gets even more determined to keep "them" on and this is what it has turned into. Then it becomes a contest to see who can get him to smile and come out of it. He has gotten really good at keeping this face on. Silly guy!
Ashton with his buddy Malakai on their first Preschool fieldtrip to the Gateway Children's Museum. He loved it!

Ashton's first performance!

Here are some pictures of Ash's first dance performance. There wasn't much dancing to be had, but lots of good laughs. I videoed him doing it in class today and was amazed at how he could do the whole thing! His next performance is on Wednesday at a care center, so we will see if he has figured out to watch his teacher instead of wander around and look off the edge of the stage! :) At least he stayed out there and didn't cry, right? It could have been worse I guess!

Announcing....

Yay! We are so excited to be having a girl! I am due March 26th. Ashton is excited to have a baby sister. Last night he wanted to get something behind the couch I was laying on so he said, "Mom can you move so I can get a blanket and not smash your baby." It was about the funniest thing I have ever heard him say so matter-of-factly. He continues to crack us up every day.
Since I am going on about Ashton, I might as well write a few more things Ashton has been up to for our own memories...
-His favorite movie right now is Toy Story. He watches it at least once a day. Lately he has been playing with his own Buzz Light Year and re-enacting parts from the movie. Some of the funniest phrases he says are, "I'm not flying, I'm falling with style." And the best one was on Sunday when he decided to tell his cousin Canyon he wasn't going down the stairs "because they'll be expecting that!" So he tried to climb down the rock wall and got stuck! We had a good laugh over that one. We got him some Buzz Light Year PJ's for him and when he has them on he can fly. He pushes a button on his chest and his wings pop out! We saw him doing that in his room standing on his bed and had to get out the video camera for it. It's even funnier when he pushes his button again to put them away. Then when we tried to get him to show someone the next day he couldn't do it because, "I don't have my Buzz Light Year jammies on!"
-He will pick up on big words and incorporate them into his play. The latest word is "punish." He will play with his super heroes and just use the word over and over in the wrong context. It doesn't make any sense to us at all but it is pretty funny to listen to him.
-He still rubs our faces to fall asleep at night, in the night, in the morning, and whenever he is drinking out of a sippy cup.

Ashton's First Day of School!

Here is a picture of Ashton's first day of school! He was pretty excited, and I can't believe that he is really going to school. We are 2 months in now, and I finally feel like he has figured out how to listen and contribute to his class. It is kind of hard to be the one in charge and have to worry about all the other parents compain about my kid being the distracting one! I almost pulled out the first month, but I am glad I took a deep breath and stuck with it. It is good for him to have something that's a big deal.
